Luminosity<\/a> expresses the actual brightness of a star<\/a> compared to the brightness of the Sun<\/a>, which is 1.0 on the luminosity scale. Examples are Sirius, which has a luminosity of 23 and Rigel of about 50,000.<\/p>\n
